Mr. Hubbard strongly believes in the use of a Paralegal at his firm because a Paralegal will save client's money by performing work at a reduced rate, which work  attorneys typically provide.  Mr. Hubbard is committed to the Paralegal profession which profession continues to grow nationwide.  Paralegals provide services to governmental, corporate and small businesses at reduced rates and is one of the top 5 fastest growing professions in the United States.  Mr. Hubbard encourages his client's to work with his Paralegal in order to assist them in keeping their costs down while resolving their legal issues.

A Sampling of Paralegal Tasks provided by Paralegals at reduced rates  are as follows:

• Conduct client interviews and maintain general contact with clients
• Locate and interview witnesses
• Conduct legal investigations and research
• Review and draft legal documents
• Summarize witness testimony
• Coordinate litigation proceedings
• Attend legal proceeding with an attorney present
• Use computer and technology
• Conduct factual research involving documents and internet resources
• Analyze and organize records and documents
• Assist with preparation of cases and with appearances in court

Although Paralegals can assist with a variety of task they are not permitted to establish attorney-client relationships or give legal opinions or advice.  They cannot represent a client before a court unless they are authorized by the court to do so.  They do not establish fees nor can they engage in, encourage or contribute to any act that could constitute the unauthorized practice of law.  Only attorneys licensed by the Illinois Supreme Court can practice law in this state. 

Rachel, the Paralegal at our office, has a B.A. in English from Elmhurst College in addition to her Paralegal Studies Certificate from College of DuPage.  Rachel is an evaluator for the College of DuPage's Paralegal Studies Program Paralegal Internship Expo and also served as a council member for College of DuPage Paralegal Studies Program Advisory Council.  Rachel has a blog on our firm's website which covers a variety of topics regarding the Paralegal profession and  how Paralegals and clients work together to  resolve issues regarding their cases.
